When to choose 1:10000
Choose 1:10000 for a broad overview of a substantial site and the surrounding road network or settlements. It is most useful as wider context; individual site details appear small, so a closer-scale plan may also be needed for an application.
What the sample shows
The Cambridge example covers 320 hectares on an A4 portrait sheet. Open the colour and black-and-white previews to see how this wider map reads in each style.
At 1:10000, 1 cm on the printed page represents 100 metres on the ground. It shows twice the distance of 1:5000 in the same space, giving a regional view rather than detailed plot layout.
