Why this scale fits

Most standard planning submissions work best with a 1:1250 location plan for context and a 1:500 block plan for detail.

Warning

Do not assume one scale can do both jobs. Planning submissions often need both context and detail, not a compromise in the middle.

Supplementary detail

Use 1:200 only as an extra close-up detail scale when the designer or council asks for it. It is not the default replacement for 1:500 or 1:1250.
