// WHAT'S IN IT

Inside the dataset

OS MasterMap Highways Network is the only national, fully connected and routable road network maintained by Ordnance Survey. It includes every adopted and unadopted road, average-speed segments, turn restrictions, one-way logic, road class, USRN linkage to street works data and structural attribution (bridges, tunnels).

It is the backbone of UK routing and logistics products - from emergency dispatch to last-mile delivery to national road-asset management.

Key features

  • Fully connected, routable network - full GB
  • Average-speed segments derived from probe data
  • Turn restrictions and one-way attribution
  • USRN linkage to street works and adoption status
  • Bridges, tunnels and structural classifications

// COMMON USE CASES

What teams build with this

Routing & ETAs

Multi-modal routing with realistic average speeds.

Emergency dispatch

Time-critical routing under restrictions for blue-light services.

Network asset management

Per-USRN reporting of adoption, maintenance and works coordination.

Last-mile logistics

Drop-density planning and depot catchment analysis.

// COVERAGE & LICENSING

Licensed to fit, not bloat.

Every licence is sized to your actual usage. We'll always recommend the smallest coverage tier that solves your problem - and scale up as you do.

Single site

A specific site or property - typical for small consultancies and one-off projects.

Regional

A council area, county, region or custom polygon - typical for LAs, utilities and dev firms.

National (GB)

Full GB coverage - for prop-tech, insurance, multi-region utilities and national operators.

Bespoke

Custom AOI, mixed cadence, multi-tenant or co-built licence. We scope under NDA.

// FAQ

Common questions

Is the network truly routable?

Yes - Highways Network is topologically connected with attributed turn restrictions, one-way logic and grade separation.

Does it include private roads?

Adopted highways are fully covered; unadopted and private access is included where surveyed.

How are average speeds derived?

OS publishes average-speed segments derived from probe data, refreshed in line with the dataset cadence.

Can we use this in a routing engine?

Yes - we will help you ingest into common routing engines (Valhalla, OSRM, GraphHopper) under your licence terms.
